2nd movement: viennese culture

It's not hard to love Vienna -- or Wien, in German. It's constantly ranked amongst the top cities for the highest quality of living. The city is spotlessly clean. The transit system is first-rate and drivers actually yield -- gasp! -- to pedestrians when trying to cross the street.

And everywhere you turn in the Austrian capital, there's always something pretty to see.

The culture in Vienna is extraordinary: museums, art galleries, and palaces galore. We only scratched the surface of the possible places to visit due to a combined effect of "there's not enough time", exhaustion, and tired feet. We toured around the History of Military Museum, complete with an exhibit on the Austrian navy, much to the delight to my travelling companion. Even I thought seeing the automobile involved in the events that led to WWI was pretty neat.

We visited Schloss Schonbrunn, the former palace of the Imperial family. Each room was immaculately decorated and the garden was expansive.

Another palace, the Belvedere, was visited. The Upper Belvedere houses the largest collection of Klimt paintings.

On our last morning in Vienna, we went on the oldest ferris wheel in the world, which, if you're interested, was my first time on a big wheel.

To be continued...
