Oxford

We were planning to a bit of a sightseeing road trip before visiting fellow Canadian, Tom and his lovely wife, Thoko in Oxford; however, the weather wasn't in our favour on Saturday so we didn't do any exploring on the way down. I was looking really forward to stopping in Upper and Lower Slaughters (just for the names!) but I'm sure we'll see these places the next time we're in Oxfordshire.

As it was pouring rain, we weren't able to complete the walking tour of Oxford T&T had planned for us. Instead, we enjoyed breathing the same air as the intellects and stopping at all of Tom's favourite watering holes - I mean isn't that what Oxford is all about?!? They rounded up a group of their friends for dinner at a local Italian restaurant and it was definitely neat to have 7 expats around a table (Canadians, South Africians, and a token Spaniard). We even had a chance to sample amarula, an Africian liquor that puts Bailey's to shame.

Today we made a trip to a nearby Woodstock and had a walk around the park with a view of the huge Blenheim Castle. We visited the gardens of the castle (okay, okay, we snuck in - but they were not keeping a close eye on everyone!) and had a lunch at a nearby pub. A few more photos here.

Is it Monday already tomorrow?
