We woke up this morning to the sound of heavy rain and winds and we desperately hoped it was Saturday as would not have to make our commute into our respective schools. It was a hodgepodge weather day from teeming rain, gale winds, rain, sunshine, more winds... Eventually, seemed fine on my way to the train station in the evening but the damage was already done! The bad weather throughout the day caused mayhem with the train schedule. On the schedule board, it was either delayed or cancelled routes! Fortunately, I got on a train, but the train manager announced, once we departed from the platform, that the train had to travel at lower speeds due to the flooding and the first stop, Chesterfield, normally 10 minutes was going to take 30 minutes. I made it back into Derby 30 minutes later than normal - not too bad!
Lesson learned: to not travel by train when the weather is bad.
The plus side is that I might not be able to go for my run tomorrow :)
