But don't worry, folks, I still have pictures for you to enjoy -- drum roll, please -- pictures of our neighbourhood!
We walked into the city centre and passed our local post office and Chinese takeaway restaurant (requisite for every neighbourhood!), and footballers playing in the nearby green space.
We live by a string of pubs -- not a huge surprise, we live in the UK after all! We visited the recently refurbished Bridge Inn last weekend with our guests. The boys enjoyed Guinnesses and the girls enjoyed Swedish apple ciders on the outdoor patio, overlooking the River Derwent.
The walk to the city centre is about 15 minutes.
The city centre is undergoing a lot construction, including the much anticipated brand new shopping mall. Here's Bennett's, Derby's own department store. It's lots of fun browse inside, especially their cooking section, but because I made such a fuss recently regarding to the lack of jam jars available, I'm really embarrassed to enter again. It also doesn't help that they don't seem to have a high turn-over of staff.
Here's surprisingly picturesque picture of the city centre:
[Aside: Derby boasts the fact that its cathedral's tower is the 3rd tallest in all of England.]
[Another aside: Derby also boasts the fact that it has the most highest paranormal activity in all of England. This explains number the ghost walk tours seen advertised in the pubs.]

the river looks so lovely! not as menacing as the North Sea, anyway.
I definitely need to visit Aberdeen and its menacing Sea ;)
