Ballet class was last night.
I really should have tried harder and studied those ballet terms before class because I sucked.
Really sucked.
That other beginner student from last week was wise - didn't show up - so I really was the worse person in the studio from 6-7. And in ankle socks to add to my humilation!
With my eyebrows furrowed and lip bitten the entire class (in which that hour seemed to last forever), I made every attempt to follow the teacher's ballet terms en francais. My arms and feet flailed like they had a mine of their own, while, of course, everyone's limbs floated effortlessly in the air. Frustrated with my (lack of) progress, I beamed at the end of one particular sequence, when the teacher commented, "Nice attitude (see note)", to me.
The weekly saga of ballet class continues...
Note: A pose with the working leg is raised. But unlike the arabesque, it is bent, not straight, and, also unlike the arabesque, it can be done to the front, the side, or the back. In attitude to the front or the back, if the angle is 90 degrees, the calf should be as nearly horizontal as possible.
