Our furniture (and stuff) is arriving in 2 days!

In honour of their arrival, we decided to go to Chesterfield (30 minutes drive north. Enroute, we passed the Denby Visitor Centre and stopped in. They had a factory seconds shop and we plan to be back next weekend, as they were offering free admission to their factory.

We first visited the open market in Chesterfield and had roasted chestnuts (!). They were selling everything from shoes to books to produce and much more.

Chesterfield is known for its Cathedral with the crooked spire. From the Lonely Planet guidebook, people of Chesterfield believed that long ago a virgin was getting married in the Cathedral and the spire had to bend down to take a look. They also believed that if another virgin was to get married in the Cathedral, the spire would correct itself!

This is the 17th century ale house where we had lunch. Fortunately, they had non-smoking seating. Everyone seems to smoke like a chimney here - very yucky when trying to eat!
