frequently asked questions

Q1) Why don't you post on the blog as often as before?

When we first arrived in the UK, I constantly wrote on the blog to document new things we had encountered -- different sayings we had heard, castles we had visited, new foods we had tried. As most of my family and friends were so far away, I had personified the blog as someone I could communicate with; the conversations were one-sided most often. However, now with our 2-year anniversary of living in the UK rapidly approaching, the 'new thing' experience is dwindling. Needless to say, life here is commonplace; no negative connotations associated with that.

Q2) How's your PhD going?

I can honestly say this is one of the questions most post-graduate students hate. Well, maybe, the top spot goes to "When will you be done your PhD?". I know when the question is asked, it is a genuine question but when you're in the smack in the middle of it all, you just don't want to hear it. I'm busy, which is a good thing. I'm writing thesis chapters and scientific articles. I'm analyzing data, which means data collection is underway.

Q3) Aside from your PhD, what else have you been doing?

Even though we completed our first half marathon about a month ago, we still go for runs; however, not at the crazy distances during our training regimen. When I'm not glued in front of the computer, my alter-ego dominates by excessive baking and knitting. We're busy getting ready for our visitor, who'll be arriving next week, and plotting out our next trips to the continent.

Have I missed any other questions?
