I always knew that we were academically focused. But living in the UK has taken the term, academically focused, to a whole new level, at least for this household. Many evenings and weekends are spent away from each other at our own work stations. My eyesight might not appreciate the number of hours spent in front of the computer but the amount written for my thesis is, in my humble opinion, inspiring.
This weekend, however, we ventured to London for my doubly sweet sixteen.
In addition, to lunch at Boxwood Cafe and the Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre, we strolled through another one of London's many markets. Camden Market likens to walking along the Mount Pleasant on Main Street and through a large-scale Fan Tan Alley: totally fun to poke around, and sample baked goods and, my current favourite, falafels.
While we did spent two days in the capital, it was the most rushed we've ever been. We caught one of the last trains back, arriving back to ho-hum Derby a minute after midnight for the start of my birthday. And since then, I've been trying to catch up on my sleep; after all, I'm in my advancing years.
