There's something comforting about being in London. It likens, in my mind, to Vancouver. It's lively and walkable but somewhat intense, which is totally unlike Vancouver. It's pretty to walk along the Thames with a coffee in hand and watch the street performers do their acts underneath the London Eye while keeping an eye or two on runners weaving in and out amongst the hoards of tourists.
While in London, it's best to soak everything up: the culture, the food, the sights, the sounds. And this weekend we did -- soak up the raindrops that is. See, what did I tell you, London is like Vancouver. However, except for the wind -- that's all England.
The main purpose of our trip was to see the temporary Terracotta Warriors exhibit at the British Museum. As we were too late to reserve tickets beforehand, we, along with many other people, queued outside the museum -- in the rain -- for the hundreds of extra tickets they open up each day. Not my idea of spending a Sunday morning but we got a pair of tickets nonetheless.
The terracotta warriors were really neat to see in person and the building that houses the British Museum was absolutely beautiful.
Intermittent between the grey rain clouds, we found some dry spells. We spent some time in my favourite Borough Market and newly discovered Leadenhall Market.
Rainy days don't usually deter me but when you unknowingly wear sneakers with holes in both shoes you just want to find somewhere warm to sit and dry your feet. But rest assured, Friends, we walked along the famed Oxford Street and replaced my shoes.
