It's funny how we came from one city that does not function well at the thought of snow to another city that has a similar mindset.
In addition to the snow forecasted for Friday, heavy winds and rains swept the area the day before; not surprisingly, causing disruption to the rail system. I, only having unsuccessfully managed to keep myself somewhat dry with broken umbrella enroute to the station, was damp to say the least. Along with everyone else, I grumbled when the display board continuously read 'canceled'. To matters just a bit worse, by the time I finally got to my desired destination, I forgot my umbrella on the train. Needless to say, working from home on the day with the prospect of snow was the way to go.
In attempt to find some snow on the weekend, we headed north to Chatsworth. We weren't the only ones disappointed with the less-than-predicted 20 cm of snow in the Peak District as we saw parents pulling children in plastic sleds on lightly snow-dusted grassy slopes. We were just pleased that we hadn't actually pulled out our snowshoes from storage for a walk in the countryside.
