assimilation

Adapting to new enviroments may not be one of my personality strengths -- have you not read this blog? So, as a result of my 1-month hiatus from the UK, I fully engrossed myself today, English-style.

We drove around the county of Derbyshire, amidst the traffic roundabouts and flooded farmlands. We stopped in Matlock, a little town we've visited many times before. We walked on the main road, along the river, that connects Matlock and its neighbouring town of Matlock Bath. We were in awe of the rising water level.

We stopped in at one of the many fish and chip restaurants to get lunch to share in Matlock Bath, which, in the summer, is filled with massive clusters of motorcyclists (this time, we saw a lady walking a ferret on a leash!). We then picked at our paper tray of artery-clogging goodness while walking. We stopped for spot of tea before coming home, and then made something out of my new Nigella cookbook.

And that, my friends, is my impression of a totally English Sunday.
