PYO* outcomes

We spent a couple of hours handpicking the slim-pickings on a PYO farm in Leicestershire last Saturday. The girl who weighed our fruit at the end was amazed at the amount we collected because of the recent floods (poor growing conditions) and it being very late in the berry season. [Aside: the season for summer fruits here occur earlier than BC's]

With our 5 lbs of fruit our hands (and farmer tans and berry-stained teeth), I decided that I wanted to make jam (for the first time!). But who would have thought the hardest part of making jam was actually finding the glass jars to can the concentrated fruit and sugar? Not me that’s for sure.
