ballet update

My ballet teacher knows my name now.

So, by default, everyone in class knows the identity of the Lulu-lemon-and-sock-wearing-water-drinking-from-a-nalgene-bottle-'American-sounding'-ballerina-wannabee.

I'm having difficulties with my droit's and gauche's but I (shamefully) admit that I can only correctly identify my rights and lefts in English, at best, 50% of the times. I mean, when I land on the wrong foot or spin in the wrong direction, it's not the fault of the upbringing from my high school french teachers but rather, my brain's fault for not being able to simultaneously interpret the ballet move and envision my hands in front of my face to see which one actually forms the 'L'.

Working on the barr is my favourite part of the class because it's an individual effort. But my teacher devotes the last third of the class away from my security blanket. She likes to have us imagine that we're in our fluffy, pink tutus (much to the dismay of the only guy in class, who I must add is the best student in class and teacher's pet) at the end of the performance and doing our thank you curtseys to the 'pretend' audience. We dance in groups of twos or threes, leaping from one corner of the studio floor to the other. With my rights as lefts and lefts as rights, I play the lead in a dance spoof but... I'm having fun.
