Ashby-de-la-WHAT?

Today we drove into the surrounding East Midlands area. Although a drive into the countryside sounds very relaxing it tends not to be the case as I am always yelling, "You're driving too close on my side!". We were driving on a narrow canal and I had to close my eyes to stop myself from continously flinching and scaring the driver!

Our first stop was Ashby-de-la-Zouch to visit the castle ruins - very interesting. Next time, we'll pick an intact castle in December so we could have stayed warm!

The French Christmas Market was going on in the town. Lots of stalls of french cooking, yummy-looking baking, and fresh flowers...

Afterwards, we drove to Oakham (I chose it because admission to the Castle was free!). Inside the Oakham Castle was over 200 horseshoes - it's probably the luckiest place to be in the UK.
