Welcome to my new blog!

After over two weeks in the UK, we finally have a place to call our own. We’ve moved into a three-floor town house – perfect for all our Canadian visitors. It’s absolutely huge to us for the time being, considering we have no furniture. What this also means is that we’re back to sleeping on the floors again. Actually, it’s pretty much the floor for everything – eating our meals, working on the computer, reading, etc… Oh, how we already miss the Thornhill Guest Lodge (the B&B we had been staying at the 14 days prior). The bed, the tv, and the big English breakfasts seem like a distant memory.

There are a few things in our new home that makes sure that we know that we’re in the UK:
Number 1: Wall-to-wall carpeting in the bathroom! We aren’t sure why this is so but maybe our British friends can explain this?
Number 2: There are doors to all rooms of the house (including the kitchen). These doors don’t stay open without a door wedge, so doors are constantly banging! Actually another place we viewed during our apartment hunt had six doors surrounding you once you entered the front door. It kind of reminded me of Alice in Wonderland – “pick a door, any door.”
Number 3: The big skeleton key for the front door (like the kind you get when you’re honoured with the key to the city) and the fact that you use it to lock the door once you’re inside. We also have an extra key (i.e. Allan key) for the dead bolt so leaving the house in the morning has now become an art!

I’ll upload pictures of the interior once our furniture arrives on December 4th! I can’t wait for the couch.

This is our Chester Green neighbourhood:

As you can see there are no sushi restaurants - boo hoo!
